Russian President Vladimir Putin said now he does not see the need to use troops in Ukraine, but such possibility still exists.
He said this at a news conference on the situation in Ukraine on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.
"As for brining the troops, using troops - there is no such need yet. But there is such a possibility," Putin said.
He assured that the exercises of the Russian army had nothing to do with the events in Ukraine.
"This event had been planned by us earlier, but was not announced, of course. Because this is a sudden readiness check in the appropriate military units. But it had been planned long ago," Putin said.
