New U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt took the oath at the State Department in Washington, informs liga.net
Payatt previously worked as a deputy U.S. Ambassador to India, Council General in Hong Kong, vice Council in Honduras.
During hearings on international relations in U.S. Senate, held on June 20, Payatt pledged that in case of his approval as a U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, he will encourage Ukrainian authorities to fulfill the EU conditions for Association Agreement, including termination of selective justice and release of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
The Senate approved Pyatt as a U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine on July 9 this year. He will replace John Tefft, who served as a U.S. Ambassador in Ukraine since November 2009.
