At the moment, delegates of Kurultay of Crimean Tatar people of VI convocation discuss candidates for the post of head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people.
Present head of Mejlis Mustafa Jemilev recused himself, thus he will not participate in the elections.
The majority of delegates supported two candidates for the post- Refat Chubarov and Remzi Ilyasov.
Jemilev proposed to elect head of Mejlis and deputy head of Mejlis among the two candidates.
Many delegates still make proposals to leave Mustafa Jemilev as head of Mejlis until the International Forum on Crimean Tatar issues takes place.
Despite the fact that Jemilev and Mufti of Muslims of Crimea Emirali Ablayev proposed to hold an open vote, many delegates objected.
The elections will be held by secret ballot.
The counting board left to prepare bulletins for a secret ballot.
