Speaking at a briefing in Kyiv, Alexander Vinnikov, Chairman of the NATO mission in Ukraine and Director of the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine, said that NATO does not recognize the illegitimate annexation of Crimea.
“NATO allies do not recognize the illegitimate annexation of Crimea. Russia should stop supporting militants and withdraw its troops and equipment from the Ukrainian territory. We will confirm our political support for Ukraine at the NATO summit in Warsaw,” said the Chairman of the NATO mission in Ukraine.
According to the diplomat, the Minsk agreements are the way to resolve the conflict, and NATO will urge the Russian Federation to fully implement them.
“The bottom line from the NATO summit is a comprehensive package of assistance to Ukraine, approved by defense ministers in Brussels last week,” Alexander Vinnikov added.
He also noted that NATO will respond resolutely to unforeseen events in the world and the appropriate decisions to improve the protection of NATO allies’ citizens will be taken at the Warsaw Summit.
