MP of Ukraine, ex-head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev will speak at the UN Security Council meeting on March 28. Jemilev said that when commenting recognition of the Crimean Tatars as indigenous people of Crimea.
“We will appeal to the United Nations. On March 28, I will be speaking at the UN Security Council meeting in New York on this issue. We will explain the situation and the point of view of the indigenous people of Crimea, which is to withdraw all foreign troops from the territory of the peninsula and restore the Crimea as part of Ukraine,” said Jemilev.
Jemilev also said that the Ukraine’s recognition of Crimean Tatars as indigenous people of Crimea is past due.
As reported, on March 20, 2014 the Ukrainian Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing Crimean Tatars indigenous people of Crimea. 284 deputies voted for this decision.
