ANKARA (QHA) -

On August 18, Ankara hosted the 6th Congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party, founded by the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Ukraine was represented at the Congress by the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, the Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for Crimean Tatar People Affairs Mustafa Dzhemilev.

According to the information on the Facebook page of the Ukrainian embassy in Turkey, Mustafa Dzhemilev conveyed a message from the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to the President of Turkey.

Ukrainian diplomats note that the core of relations between the two states remained unchanged.

"The core of relations is a strategic partnership based on respect for international law and each other's interests," the report said.

At the same time, the representative of the occupation authorities of Crimea Ruslan Balbek was denied participation in the Congress.

According to the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, since the Turkish side did not give the preliminary consent to include Belbek in the delegation of the Russian Federation, he was not allowed to the event.

"Instead of the solemn hall where the Congress of AKP took place [the Turkish acronym of the Justice and Development Party-Ed.], the servant of Russian invaders Ruslan Balbek was forwarded to the Russian embassy where he could wait until the State Duma delegation left for Moscow," Chubarov wrote.

Previously, in October last year, within the framework of the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ukraine, a meeting was held with the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, members of the Mejlis and representatives of the Crimean Tatar community. Erdogan stressed that Turkey supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and will continue to help Crimean Tatars.
