Crimean Parliament has supported the initiative of permanent committee on interethnic relations and deported citizens to make Muslim Oraza and Qurban Bayram official holidays in Crimea.

70 out of 85 deputies voted for the decree.

The document will be sent to Ukrainian Parliament soon.

To recall, the initiative of making two most important Muslim holidays official days-off comes from Oct.9, 2013, still the deputies failed to push the law through.

Christianity is the major religion in Ukraine, Christian holidays such as Christmas, Easter and the others are recognized as official holidays.

Meanwhile, 12 % of Ukrainian citizens are Muslims, with 85% of them live in Crimea.
