KYIV (QHA) -

Representatives of European organizations are discussing the creation of an international movement of solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people, the member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Director of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Eskender Bariev informed at the press conference "YES TO UKRAINE - Austria's policy on integration of the Balkans to the EU as a model for Ukraine", QHA correspondent reports.

“Recently, in London, where I was on a working visit, in the presence of a number of international organizations, the idea of creating an international solidarity movement with the Crimean Tatar people arose. And now active work has begun on the realization of this idea. Thanks to Mr. Gunther [Gunther Fehlinger, President of the initiative "Europeans for Tax Reform" - Ed.], we held a number of meetings with foreign journalists," he said.

In the perspective, according to Eskender Bariev, in the context of such movement creation, it is possible to determine two focus areas. The first is the protection of human rights, and using the experience of Kosovo to protect the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, who are subjected to continuous repression in the occupied Crimea. The second area is the way Ukrainians want to see the future of the Crimea.

"Given the experience of Kosovo, we must think about what kind of model we can build in the Crimea, in which all residents regardless of nationality and religion would enjoy full rights in the region," Bariev said.

A member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people stressed that the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo "were able to achieve independence and international support only because they were consolidated on the one hand, and on the other hand they worked to find friends around the world."

In his turn, Gunther Fehlinger noted that he hopes for cooperation between Ukraine and Kosovo, which will become important on the Ukrainian way to membership in the European Union.
