BRUSSELS (QHA) -

Russia is no longer a strategic partner for the European Union, according to the statement of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

“Russia used to be a strategic partner for the European Union, but that is no longer the case,” she noted.

She went on saying that for the warming of relations with the EU the Russian Federation should implement the Minsk agreements.

“It is clear that our relationship with Russia is not what it was, nor what it could be: the full implementation of the Minsk agreements is a key element for any substantial change in our relations. But we as the EU know that selective engagement with Russia is also necessary, where there is a clear EU interest," Magerini said.

According to her, the EU supports the idea of introducing UN peacekeepers to the Donbas.

Reportedly, March 12, President of UKraine Petro Poroshenko and Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymir Groisman will meet with the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.
