The representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in Donbas Irina Gerashchenko reported that the number of attacks in Donbas has reduced due to the Minsk agreements, a QHA journalist reports.

“This year’s key outcome of Minsk agreements has been the stopping the conflict in Donbas region in its acute phase. When signing Minsk agreements, several dozens of our best soldiers were killed in eastern Ukraine and around 50 seriously injured were brought to hospitals every day,” said the First Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to Gerashchenko, the nature of injuries got by the soldiers and civilians in Donbas indicates that Russia uses new weapons against us. The Ukrainian MP also noted that the situation has been improved for the time being, as only several wounded – instead of 150 per day - are brought to the hospitals of Kharkiv and Dnipro.

Earlier, Irina Gerashchenko stated that Minsk agreements are not perfect, but they are recognized by the world as a road map for a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Minsk agreements clearly define the impact of sanctions against Russia, which significantly hit Moscow and Russian economy. Russia is committed to the lifting of sanctions and makes the reciprocal steps to the European partners.
