Foreign Minister of Finland Timo Soini condemned the annexation of Crimea by Russia, according to his statement at a joint news conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Kyiv on March 5.
“Finland supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and resolutely stands on this. In less than two weeks we will remember the fourth anniversary of the illegal annexation of the Crimea. We condemn the annexation and actions of Russia against Ukraine," he said.
According to the diplomat, it is necessary to ensure a ceasefire in the Donbas, which is the only way to a lasting peace.
"Initiatives to resolve the conflict are welcome, but they must be agreed with Ukraine," the Head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier, the British Prime Minister Teresa Mei and US President Donald Trump during a telephone conversation noted that statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin about new nuclear weapons are "irresponsible."
