After the referendum in Crimea, president of Crimea Yuri Meshkov should begin to fulfill his presidential duties according to the Crimean constitution of 1992. Valeriy Podyachiy, coordinator of the “Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia” organization said this at the press conference in Simferopol.
“Yuri Meshkov was elected president of Crimea in 1994. According to the constitution of 1992, Meshkov could be deprived of power in three cases: voluntary resignation, death or impeachment. Neither of that happened. There was no transfer of power. Therefore, after the referendum, president of Crimea Yuri Meshkov should take office again”, said Podyachiy.
During the press conference, Meshkov, himself, called on the Crimeans to participate in the referendum and vote for accession of Crimea to Russia. He emphasized, he will vote in a referendum as well.
