Polish MEP Janusz Korwin-Mikke is interested in the situation of the Crimean Tatars on the peninsula. Today, he is to meet with the Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisarai, the politician reported a press conference in Simferopol.
The politician said he wanted to know the the Crimean Tatars’ stance on the events of the past one and a half years - namely the Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
- Not everything is clear, I do not want to talk since as of now I do not have a full picture of the situation. Of course, Tatars are broken up as there is no peace, he said.
According to him, he managed to communicate with the Crimeans in the street, and "most want to be in Russia."
- We talked to people on the streets. I knew they are satisfied with everything as it is. Nobody blames Russia for what happened. Only it is necessary to find out the position of the Tatars, there is a very difficult situation. Thus, today in Bakhchisarai I will talk with Tartars, said Janusz Korwin-Mikke.
The politician is on official visit to Crimea from 10 to 12 December. He has already met the so-called "Head of Crimea" Sergei Aksyonov.
Janusz Korwin-Mikke is a pro-Russian politician and Head of one of the right-wing Polish parties KORWiN. He opposes sanctions against Russia.
