(QHA) -

Crimean authorities denied an appeal of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people to conduct mass events in Crimea dedicated to Human Rights Day.

Among the planned events there were paintings contest, titled “Crimea is me homeland”, photo exhibition “Human rights activity of Crimean Tatar national movement”.

Mejlis also planned to conduct a conference, named “Human Rights in Crimea: problems and perspective”.

According to the coordinator of the committee on protection of rights of Crimean Tatars, Eskender Bariev, the decision of Crimean authorities contradicts Russian legislation.

“We are to appeal to prosecutor office, and the court regarding the issue”- Bariev said.

This comes days after a committee on protection of rights of Crimean Tatars set up a hot line to fix human right abuses in Crimea.
