Sinaver Kadyrov, the representative of the Crimean Tatar human rights organization "Azatlyk" commented on the decision of the so-called "prosecutor" of Crimea to suspend the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
“Actions of Poklonskaya to suspend the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people are the Russia’s response to the support of the Mejlis policy on the annexed peninsula by the West. The Crimean Tatars are the only organized force in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. The Mejlis is its main representative body, the main body of the people, resisting the occupation. And it brings more trouble for the occupation regime, which implements the principle "the best defense is a good offense," he said.
It was reported earlier that the self-proclaimed "Crimean Prosecutor" Natalia Poklonskaya refers to the articles 9 and 10 of the Federal Law "On Countering Extremist Activity." The decision of the "Prosecutor's Office of Crimea" was sent to the Russia’s Ministry of Justice for its inclusion in the general list of public and religious associations, whose activities are suspended in the territory of the Russian Federation and occupied Crimea.
The decision "to suspend the activities of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars" will be in effect until the so-called Crimean Supreme Court’s decision in Poklonskaya’s action is delivered.
