Mejlis initiates rally against bloodshed and dictatorship in Ukraine

A rally against dictatorship and bloodshed in Ukraine initiated by Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people was held in Simferopol.

About 3 thousand people took part in the event, holding Crimean Tatar, Ukrainian and EU flags and banners reading “Crimea is Ukraine”, “We support European integration”, “No to dictatorship” and others.

The event was opened by Patriarch Vladimir of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyivan Crimean Patriarchate and Mufti of Crimea Emirali Ablayev. Both prayed for stabilization of political situation in Ukraine.

Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar Refat Chubarov people stressed that this peaceful rally in Simferopol is aimed to stop the dictatorship and bloodshed in Ukraine, along with canceling of controversial laws adopted on January 16. Among the demands was also the restoration of rights of Crimean Tatar people.

In the end of the meeting Refat Chubarov found out that the majority of the laws adopted on January 16 were revoked by Ukrainian Parliament and informed the participants about it. This fact was greeted with storm of applause.
