Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people is concerned that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine suspended the process of preparation for the signature of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Head of Mejlis Refat Chubarov sad that at a briefing on November 21 in Kyiv.
“What happened at the Ukrainian Parliament is a double concern for the Crimean Tatars, as we understand that the Crimean Tatar issue is closely related to the development of democracy in Ukraine…We doubt the development of democracy in the country if it stops its European integration. We understand that the resolving of the Crimean Tatar issue is possible only in a strong democratic Ukraine,” said Chubarov.
He also told about his meeting with the head of Crimean Council of Ministers Anatoly Mogilev.
“Our massage was heard by Anatoly Mogilev. During our first meeting we discussed a number of questions, we found common understanding and decided to continue discuss issues, including issues related to the status of Mejlis and activities of the Council of Representatives of Crimean Tatars at the President of Ukraine”, noted head of Mejlis.
In his speech, Chubarov expressed hope that systematic dialogue between Mejlis and authorities will continue:
“I hope the dialogue will continue if not interfered with any force majeure circumstances driven by general political situation in Ukraine. We all know what a tough and ineffective day was today at the Ukrainian Parliament”.
As reported, on November 21, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers suspended the process of preparation for signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
