The meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars has officially launched. Prior to the meeting, the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian anthems have been played. Among the participants are delegates from Ukraine, Romania, Canada, Lithuania and Turkey. 15 members of the Executive Committee have already arrived.
“We hold our meetings in the regions where Crimean Tatars reside in large numbers. The next one will be held either in Poland or Lithuania. Alexander Tulupov, Mayor of the town of Genichesk, is here. This is the man who has been keeping Putin busy,” said Refat Chubarov, Head of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars.
According to Andrey Yevstratov, Head of the Genichesk Regional Council, decisions to be made by the Executive Committee of World Congress of Crimean Tatars will help establish sustainable and lasting peace in Ukraine. He thanked the participants for their position, saying that residents of Genichesk support the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Crimean Tatars.
Alexander Tulupov, Mayor of Genichesk, said there are a lot of issues waiting to be resolved since Ukraine gained its independence. However, even more issues have cropped up since the war started two years ago. According to the Mayor, it is absolutely crucial that all of them are resolved at a negotiating table. He wished those in attendance to live peace and be kind and wise, adding that Crimea is part of Ukraine.
“We will let the journalists do their job while we are approving the agenda and then ask them to leave so we could do some work. They will have another chance to talk to the Congress’s participants in Chongar at 3 p.m.”, Said Refat Chubarov.
