Russian-occupied peninsula entered the top ten countries and territories with the worst rating of media freedom in the world, along with Azerbaijan, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, according to the annual report "Freedom of the Press-2017" Human rights organization Freedom House.

Earlier, the human rights group Reporters Without Borders published a World Press Index study of the level of media freedom and working conditions of journalists in 180 countries around the world.

According to this rating, Ukraine rose by five points compared with the previous year.
