Prior to being dismantled, which is expected to take a whole day, the monument is being surrounded by a metal fence.

According to police, the metal fencing is being installed by the personnel of the Municipal Heat Supply, Zaporozhelektrotrans and Zaporozhgorsvet authorities.

The dismantling of the 18-meter high monument is expected to take place on March 17. As of today, monuments to three other Soviet leaders have been dismantled in Zaporozhe, including the Ordzhonikidze monument (March 9), as well as Dzerzhinsky and Kirov monuments (March 10-11).

The Lenin monument in Zaporozhe is Ukraine’s tallest.
