Russian President Vladimir Putin will personally take final decision on release of Nadezhda Savchenko, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“As has been stressed by Russian officials, we heard suggestions for the exchange, and these issues will be dealt with in full compliance with Russian legislation,” Lavrov said at a press conference after his meeting with Foreign Minister of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as reported by Interfax.
Commenting on the situation with Nadezhda Savchenko, Lavrov stressed:
“The decision is made by the Head of the State.”
It was reported earlier that on Tuesday, March 22, Russia’s Donetsk Court in Rostov region sentenced Nadezhda Savchenko to 22 years in prison.
