Kyiv has said it is prepared to open fire on Russian helicopters if they violate its airspace.

Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Parubiy told a press conference that Ukraine has registered violations of  its airspace by Russian helicopters over the past day and is ready to  open fire on any aircraft continuing to do so. 

Ukrainian border guard authorities said on Thursday that Russian combat helicopters violated the country’s borders on several occasions after crossing into the Ukrainian air space on several occasions on the morning of July 3.

“At 8:20 a.m. three Russian helicopters violated the Ukrainian state border near the settlement of Belovodsk in the Luhansk Region, and at 9:20 a.m. three Russian helicopters entered the Ukrainian air space near the Dolzhansky border checkpoint also in the Luhansk Region,” the statement said.
