VI Kurultay of Crimean Tatar people appealed to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to support conducting in the first half of 2014 an International Forum on restoration of rights of Crimean Tatar people at their homeland. Such appeal was adopted on November 19 at the session of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people. In the appeal, Kurultay delegates note that the initiative to hold such Forum found support among the international community. The document also notes that the main purpose of the International Forum is mobilization of international political and financial support for Ukraine in its efforts to resolve issues of Crimean Tatars and other formerly deported people, such as their return, resettlement and restoration of rights. However, the Ukrainian Government has not yet undertaken any steps aimed at conducting the Forum. Kurultay members noted that such attitude of the Ukrainian Government to proposals for coordinated efforts of UN, OSCE, Council of Europe and European Union for solving issues of resettlement and restoration of rights of Crimean Tatars causes frustration and despair of tens of thousands of Crimean Tatar families, which found themselves with no homes, jobs and other basic conditions after return to their homeland. At the end of the appeal, Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, supporting the European integration course of Ukraine, called on the President to take a decision to conduct the Forum in the first half of 2014.
