These are repressions to charge the Crimean Muslims detained in Crimea with involvement in "Hizb ut-Tahrir", organization prohibited in Russia, a lawyer of detained defendants Emil Kurbedinov told a press conference "The cases against the Crimean Muslims: FSB exerts pressure on the detainees’ families for the kitchen talks about" terrorism ".

- Over two years I have not found any evidence proving terrorist activities of the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. Therefore, I believe that imprisoned Crimean Muslims are real political prisoners and all actions against them are repression against the Crimean Tatars in the Republic, Kurbedinov told via Skype a conference about trials of Ukrainian political prisoners in Crimea.

There are 15 defendants in the “Hizb ut-Tahrir case" held in Russian jails with 14 of them being Crimean Tatars. Ruslan Zeytullaev, Rustem Vaitov, Nuri Primov and Ferat Sayfullaev were detained in winter 2015 in the city of Sevastopol. This year, on February 11, the FSB (Federal Security Service) arrested Emir Usein Kuku, Vadim Siruk, Enver Bekirov and Muslim Aliev. On April 18, 2016, the other two Crimean Tatars- Arsen Djeparov and Refat Alimov were arrested by the Russian Security Forces in the village of Krasnokamenka.
