MOSCOW (QHA) -

Russian TV host and presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak said that from the point of view of international law Crimea is Ukrainian.

She made a corresponding statement at a press conference in Moscow.

“I will answer directly what I really think on this issue, I will not dance around this question or bypass it. From the point of view of international law, Crimea is Ukrainian. And that's final. Now let's speak further," Sobchak said.

Sobchak noted that the Russian Federation had violated international treaties.

"We (Russia) have broken our word, we violated the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, we promised and this promise was not fulfilled," the politician said.

According to Sobchak, the issue of Crimea will be discussed in its pre-election program.

"For Russia and Ukraine, we need to restore our friendship at any cost," she stated.

Earlier Ksenia Sobchak announced her intention to participate in the presidential elections in Russia in 2018.

The Kremlin reacted to the journalist's statement. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Sobchak fully meets the criteria existing for presidential candidates under Russian law.
