KYIV (QHA) -

“It is necessary to maintain national and territorial autonomy of Crimea, and adopt the appropriate legislation to support Crimea, since some people living there opposed the Russia’s annexation, especially Crimean Tatars. As for a special status of Crimea, I don’t see any need,” emphasized Leonid Kravchuk, Ukraine’s former President.

“Nikita Khrushchev transferred Crimea to Ukraine due to its population in poverty, and delivered an ultimatum to Kirichenko to bring Crimea into the fold developing its economy and infrastructure. Later on, Crimeans will realize that they can live a normal life only with Ukraine. I don’t share the opinion that we can live without Crimea. Ukraine and Crimea should have relations, but relations for the benefit of Ukraine, not only for the benefit of Russia. After all, Putin is establishing a tsarist Russia.” summarized Leonid Kravchuk.
