KYIV (QHA) -

At a conference in Kyiv, an expert at the Maidan of Foreign Affairs Foundation Olga Korbut shared the fact that only one airport operates in the Crimea since the beginning of annexation.

“Compared with the period before annexation, passenger traffic at this airport decreased by a quarter. Russia has captured Ukrainian air objects and arbitrarily controls the airspace over the Crimea," Korbut stated.

She went on saying that Russia claims to have allegedly obtained permission to fly over the Crimea from the international civil aviation organization ICAO.

The same, according to the expert, concerns the use of the territorial waters of the peninsula. It should be noted that before the occupation of the peninsula by Russia, 5 airports operated in the Crimea.

She also listed companies that organized flights to the occupied Crimea. Among them were Cambojian airlines and Vietnamese Jet Pacific.
