Foreign Ministers of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Germany Sigmar Gabriel discussed the release of political prisoners in Russia and the occupied Crimea, the head of the political department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Aleksei Makeev informed on Twitter.

“An important point in today's conversation between Ministers Pavlo Klimkin and Sigmar Gabriel was the return of hostages from the occupied Donbas, as well as political prisoners from the Kremlin and from the occupied Crimea. Pavlo Klimkin handed over the list of political prisoners. The influence of Germany in this process is one of the key ones," he wrote.

Earlier, a civic association of relatives of political prisoners of the Kremlin sent a letter to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko asking for a personal meeting. During the meeting, activists intend to discuss with the head of state what is being done to release their relatives.
