Kherson to strengthen ties with Turkey

Ukrainian-Turkish relations are becoming warmer.

February 10, the Turkish delegation from the province of Mersin is to arrive in the city of Kherson to sign an Agreement on Cooperation  in the Regional State Administration.

The next day the Delegation is to visit the Genichesk area and meet representatives of the regional Mejlis.

November 13 last year, a spokesman of the Regional State Administration paid a working visit to the province of Istanbul and signed a Statement of Intent, one provision of which envisages the establishment of friendly relations and exertion of necessary efforts to further expand and deepen long-term cooperation in economics, trade, logistics, agriculture, transport infrastructure development.

Following signing of the Statement, the Turkish delegation also paid a working visit to the city of Kherson to sign the Agreement between the Kherson Regional State Administration and the administration of the province of Mersin on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation.

The main objective of the Agreement is to establish economic cooperation, expand foreign trade relations and ties with foreign partners that will diversify the markets in Kherson region, improve the economic situation and increase the turnover.

In 2014, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine noted that Turkish businessmen want to invest, primarily in agriculture in the Kherson region, but in the future they also plan to allocate funds for restoration of Kherson factories and enterprises that stopped working after the Soviet collapse.

In addition, Ukraine and Turkey also discussed a launch of a Kherson - Mersin flight, as well as modernization of the Kherson sea port.
