Kazakhstan recognized the Crimean referendum on March 16 as ‘free expression of the will of people” and expressed understanding for Russia’s decision. Such statement was posted on the official site of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry.
“In connection with the referendum in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea on March 16, 2014, Kazakhstan reiterates its commitment to fundamental principles of the international law in accordance with the UN Charter. Kazakhstan recognizes the Crimean referendum as a free expression of the will of people in the republic and expresses understanding for the decision of the Russian Federation under the current circumstances. We stand for peaceful ways in resolving the crisis in Ukraine through negotiations process under the auspices of the UN and other international organizations,” says the statement.
