Crimean Tatar leader, Ukraine’s presidential envoy on the issues of Crimean Tatars, Ukrainian MP Mustafa Jemilev will read an oath of people’s deputy during the opening of Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of VIII convocation. Ukrainian MP Vyacheslav Kirilenko wrote this in Twitter.
Along with Jemilev, two other MPs Efim Zvyagilsky and Yuriy Shuhevych will read the oath.
According to Parliament’s speaker Oleksandr Turchynov, the Verkhovna Rada will start its work Dec 2.
Note: Before assuming office, the Verkhovna Rada's deputies must take the following oath before the parliament:
I swear allegiance to Ukraine. I commit myself with all my deeds to protect the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, to provide for the good of the Motherland and for the welfare of the Ukrainian people. I swear to abide by the Constitution of Ukraine and the laws of Ukraine, to carry out my duties in the interests of all compatriots.
The oath is read by the eldest deputy before the opening of the first session of the newly elected Parliament after which deputies affirm the oath by their signatures under its text.
A refusal of taking the oath is followed by the loss (forfeiture) of a deputy's mandate.
An authority of the People's Deputy of Ukraine starts from the moment of taking the oath.
