Ukraine’s Presidential Envoy on Crimean Tatar Issues Mustafa Jemilev hopes that a bill recognizing Crimean Tatar people indigenous people of Ukraine will be adopted soon.
Jemilev was speaking before a conference dedicated to the ways of implementation of Crimean Tatar rights.
“I suppose that the bill will be adopted, as there is no political force in the Parliament which will oppose it”- he said.
“On March 20, then MP and now Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko submitted a decree recognizing Crimean Tatars indigenous people of Ukraine. Nine months have passed, still no law on the issue was adopted”- he added.
To recall, March 16, a referendum of Crimea’s status was held. On the basis of the results of the referendum, which was not recognized by international community and Kyiv, Moscow annexed the region.
On March 20, Petro Poroshenko submitted a decree to Ukrainian Parliament to recognize Crimean Tatars indigenous people of Ukraine.
