Jemilev congratulates Grybauskaite on Independence Day

Mustafa Jemilev, Leader of Crimean Tatars, has congratulated the people of Lithuania and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite on the Day of restoration of the Lithuanian state.

Mustafa Jemilev, Commissioner of President of Ukraine on Crimean Tatars Affairs, has posted the message of congratulations on his Facebook page.

In his message, Mustafa Jemilev stressed the importance of the path traversed by the Lithuanians for the future generations of the country. Also the leader of Crimean Tatars expressed gratitude to Dalia Grybauskaite for her position with regard to territorial integrity of Ukraine, and support in solving the problems of his nation.

“I am sure that the achievements of the Republic of Lithuania will become a striking example of democratic social development for many nations,” Jemilev noted. 

On February 16, 1918, the Lithuanian Council, vested with popular support, declared the restoration of the independent democratic State of Lithuania at the meeting in Vilnius. Every year the national flags are being hoisted all over the country, as well as a number of events are being held on this remarkable date:  delivering speeches by the country leaders, awarding ceremonies at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania, holding Masses in various churches of the country, as well as concerts and other public action.
