(QHA) -

Leader of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev has commented resignation of Ilmy Umerov -- head of Bakhchisaray rayon administration.

“Ilmy Umerov is one of the most honest our compatriots. He has honesty implemented all the decisions of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, asserted national interests, interests of justice and Ukraine. He was always supported by people of different nationalities in his rayon”- Jemilev said to QHA correspondent.

According to Jemilev, Umerov took principal position after Crimea’s unification with Russia.

“Umerov said if he was forced to give up Ukrainian citizenship and swear to Russia, he would resign from his post. He was always and is one of the most decent”- Jemilev noted.

It should be noted, another Crimean official-- Belohorsk mayor Albert Kangiev is forced to resign from his post. Deputies of Belohorsk city administration boycott the sessions over Kangiev’s position regarding March 16 referendum.

To recall, head of Bakhchisaray rayon administration Ilmy Umerov has resigned from his post “in a view of impossibility to continue work in changed conditions that contradict his ideas and principles”.

Crimea was annexed by Russia in March 2014, following all-Crimean referendum.
