Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland filed an official appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to pardon the Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov.
Jagland had the right to file an appeal to Putin under the European Convention on Human Rights.
"The document has been forwarded, we are waiting for official confirmation by the diplomatic channels of Russia," the press service of the Council of Europe informed.
Earlier, Jagland said after the meeting with Moskalkova that he was ready to file a petition for pardon of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, illegally convicted in Russia.
QHA reported that Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova said that Oleg Sentsov is very pale, moves little and hardly gets out of bed.
