Turkish aircraft, which was flying from Istanbul to Simferopol, failed to land in the city's airport and returned back, due to the seizure of the airport, Turkish TV channel TRT Haber reported on Feb. 28.

The aircraft's pilots were informed about the airport's seizure when the plane was in Ukraine's airspace.

These armed persons, dressed in camouflage, remain on the premises of the airport Interfax-Ukraine reported.

Some reports suggest that these people came to the airport because they thought that an airplane carrying some protest forces had landed there. Other theories indicate that they wanted to stop Ukraine's new Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and Ukrainian Security Council head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko from arriving in Crimea.
