- Ukraine should behave as Crimea’s mother: it can be good, but when it is necessary it ought to be severe. The good times are over. For the sake of those who are subjected to intimidation and reprisals in the Russia-occupied territories, we will continue the civil Crimean blockade. Now we are working on a program to safely disconnect the peninsula from electricity supply. We are talking about the formation of Ukraine's energy independence. As a result of Crimean energy blockade mainland Ukraine will also suffer a bit, but we are doing everything possible to minimize potential problems, Lenur Islyamov reports, one of the organizers of the rally and the owner of the Crimean Tatar ATR TV Channel, Lenur Islyamov commented on press reports about the beginning of an energy blockade.

Reminder: outside the village of Chongar, at the area between the villages of Ataman and Chongar, unknown persons have damaged the Melitopol - Dzhankoy - Simferopol power line, which supplied power to Crimea. When employees of the Dnepropetrovsk State Enterprise tried to start reconstruction works, the activists who are being holding a peaceful blockade of the peninsula, prevented them. Oct.11 Ukrainian Energy stopped supplying electricity to Russia-occupied Crimea through Melitopol – Dzhankoy line. The remaining three lines are still operating.

According to Lenur Islyamov, the activists will permit repairing the damaged power lines and the incident is only a warning to the official Kiev.

- And there is a feedback. We have been heard.

He said that the arrangers of the rally have no agreement with the authorities, but activists are calling for them to work together on a program of Ukrainian energy security, which will make it possible to block the Crimea with not big losses. Islyamov also added the Ukrainian energy sector supports the idea of the blockade, realizing that this is a forced necessity.
