In an interview with QHA, Islyamov confirmed that the Crimean Tatar activists will not let the destroyed power lines be restored until Ukrainian political prisoners in Crimea have been released.

In an interview with BBC Ukraine, Mustafa Jemilev, Leader of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian MP, said:

“We have made our demands, such as releasing more than 10 political prisoners in Crimea, setting up a commission to investigate kidnappings and murders of people, letting an international monitoring group into Crimea to look into the situation with human rights there and restoring democratic freedoms”.

It was reported earlier that a power outage, which hit Crimea after transmission towers of all of the power lines supplying Crimea with electricity were blown up on November 21, caused an emergency state to be declared on the peninsula.
