Ukraine neither provides any assistance to annexed Crimea, nor makes real steps to take back the peninsula, Lenur Islyamov, Coordinator of the Crimean civil blockade, told the 112 TV Channel.
-Mainland Ukraine does not do anything for the Crimean Tatar people and Crimea, but only simulates assistance. And it is very painful for the Crimean community, which still remains pro-Ukrainian. Ukraine imitates certain democratic processes and reforms. Currently, we even cannot make sure that our border guards do not take bribes and normal citizens entering Ukraine are not ashamed of it, said Islyamov.
He went on saying that today Ukraine has nothing to show off to those Crimea’s peoples who are being held hostages in the occupied territory.
- We have pitched our tents at the checkpoints, we are creating our own battalion and organize broadcasting of our Crimean Tatar independent media without receiving a penny from the Ukrainian Ministries and State. We won’t manage to take back Crimea with such officials who are currently holding seats in the Cabinet of Ministers, said Islyamov.
February, 26 has been recognized the Day of Crimean Resistance against Russia’s occupation as this day the city of Simferopol hosted a rally against the separatist sentiments in Crimean Parliament, which led to occupation of the peninsula.
The Russian Federation occupied Crimea in February-March 2014 saying a falsified referendum on March, 16 showed that Crimean residents want to join Russia. The international community has not recognized the annexation. For Ukraine, Crimea remains the temporarily occupied territory.
