“The Zionist regime over the years has been a long-lasting wound on the body of the Islamic world and it should be removed”, Rouhani said at the meeting on the occasion of the International Day of Jerusalem, celebrated in Iran.
Having won the presidential election, Hassan Rouhani said he intended to revive a constructive dialogue with the international community. At the same time he expressed hope that “all countries will take advantage of the new opportunity to establish friendly relations”.
"Iran is ready to demonstrate greater transparency about its nuclear program," - said Hassan Rouhani. At the same time, the international community's sanctions against Iran, according to the president, are «unjustified and unfair." He also said that Iran is currently "not ready to suspend its uranium enrichment program," informed ITAR-TASS.
Rohani also said he intends to speed up negotiations with a group of "five plus one" (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) on the nuclear program of his country.
The celebration, which featured statements of the newly elected Iranian leader, was also attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose powers will end after the inauguration of Rouhani, reported RIA Novosti.
Ahmadinejad has repeatedly declared that Israel "must be wiped off the map", once again made a series of harsh statements against the Jewish state.
Hassan Rouhani will officially begin his duties as President on August 3, after the country's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei approves the election results. August 4th- is the day of official ceremony of inauguration of the new president.
