Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has not yet recorded the nuclear weapons importation in Crimea, informed one of its representatives Vadim Skibitskiy at the briefing on July 29 in Kyiv.
However, according to the speaker’s information, Russian troops did the corresponding drills to work out operational deployment and the further use of nuclear weapons.
- During the drills, especially in April and May 2016, the conventional algorithms of nuclear weapons deployment ware worked out on the territory of the Autonomous Crimean Republic, Skibitskiy said.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu personally controls the military build-up in the occupied Crimea, as evidenced by his recent visits there. In March, he inspected the coastal forces location in Simferopol and Perevalnoe. In June the warning station of missile attack in Sevastopol and a spacecraft control complex near Yevpatoriya were examined. On July 23 Shoigu checked the work on restoration and improvement of the airfields infrastructure in settlements Kirov, Guards, Saki.
At the board meeting in Moscow, on July 27, the Russian Defense Ministry prioritized the military build-up in the occupied Crimea. In particular, one of the issues on board was to improve the fighting strength of the Southern Military District, as well as the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.
Shoigu insisted on the deployment of a self-contained group of forces in the Crimea and on disposal of new aircraft, anti-aircraft missile systems S-400, ‘Warszawianka’ submarines and small-size missile ship, armed with ‘Caliber’ missile complexes for the Armed Forces.
