Ilyasov should be appointed the head of Mejlis: Bilyalov

Remzi Ilyasov--deputy chairman of Crimean Parliament-- should be appointed the head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, Eskender Bilyalov -- Chairman of Saki Mejlis office announced, speaking during a press-conference Dec 25 in Simferopol.

Bilyalov noted that the decision should be made during the next Mejlis session, emphasizing that in Oct 2013, during the Mejlis head’s vote, Ilyasov just got 12 voters less than Refat Chubarov.

According to Bilyalov, the current Mejlis head and his deputies do not fulfil their duties.

To recall, head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov was banned from entering Crimea for 5 years being accused of “extremist activity”. The Mejlis itself was forced to leave its central office in Simferopol.

Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov announced he did not intend to communicate with the Mejlis--Crimean Tatar representative body-- until it is registered as an organization.

“Mejlis does not exist for me in the legal field. There is no such organization for me.As long as this organization stays outside the legal field I don’t see it and I’m not going to communicate with it,”-Aksyonov said.
