MONTREAL (QHA) -

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has not yet received a request from Ukraine regarding a dispute with Russia on the air space over the annexed Crimea, but the organization is ready to consider it as soon as it is submitted, Russian media reported citing ICAO representative Anthony Philbin.

Earlier QHA reported that Ukraine was preparing a claim to the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding violation of the Convention on International Civil Aviation and guidance Documents by the Russian Federation.

In spring, 2014, in response to Russia’s claims about air traffic control in the Simferopol area, ICAO stated that the exclusive right to control traffic in this area belongs to Ukraine as before. Contrary to the ban, Russian airlines continue to fly to the Crimea, thereby violating international regulations.
