WASHINGTON (QHA) -

The Head of the Crimean Human Rights Group Olga Skrypnik and the Chairperson of the Human Rights Information Center Tatyana Pechonchik met with US Senator John McCain in Washington on June 21 and told him about human rights violations in the occupied Crimea.

“We've met John McCain and his office today and informed them on the situation with human rights in Crimea. He is an inspiring person and great supporter of Ukraine,” Skrypnik wrote on Facebook.

In turn, John McCain spoke about meeting with human rights activists on Twitter.

“Wonderful running into Ukrainian human rights advocates from Crimea - I applaud your work and will always fight for a free & whole Ukraine!"

Earlier, McCain said that Russia and its President Vladimir Putin pose a more serious threat to the world community than the "Islamic state".
