Escalating the external threat from Russia has encouraged the North Atlantic Alliance to review the terms of the deployment of the 300,000-army in Europe. In an interview with Times, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg assured that the army will come in full combat readiness in two months. Thus, in January 2017 the world geopolitical picture will change.
Earlier it was reported, that NATO has responded to the growing international threat from the Russian Federation. The decision was announced to deploy a contingent of four thousand troops in the Baltic states, to form a mobile military group in constant combat readiness of five thousand people and strengthen the rapid deployment squad up to 40 thousand people.
The Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has already commented on NATO actions on behalf of the Kremlin:
“Stoltenberg’s statements have once again testified the aggressive nature of the organization,” said the Russian official.
At a press conference after a meeting of NATO Defence Ministers, Jens Stoltenberg noted that Russia constantly conducts military exercises near the borders of NATO, as well as continues to destabilize Ukraine by supporting terrorists in Donbas, so the alliance must find ways to strengthen defense of its members.
