On September 26, the European Parliament in Brussels held special parliamentary hearings on the report of the External Relations Service of the European Union “On the urgent human rights situation in relation to Crimean Tatars”, press service of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people informs.
In the report, a representative of the External Relations Service Dirk Schuebel, informed about EU projects in Crimea and monitoring of human rights situation in relation to Crimean Tatars.
Members of the European Parliament Inese Vaidere (Latvia) and Emine Bozkurt (Holland) took part in the discussion.
At the discussion, attention was paid to the proposal of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people to hold in 2014 an International Forum on Crimean Tatar issue.
Emine Bozkurt expressed concern with the indifferent position of Ukraine to the Forum and emphasized the importance of a principle position of the European Union concerning Crimean Tatars.
