THE HAGUE (QHA) -

The International Court of Justice of the United Nations completed hearings on the suit of Ukraine against Russia on the application on preventive measures against the Russian Federation upon the request of Kyiv. The decision can be presented until the end of April, UNIAN correspondent reports, citing the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, the Head of the delegation to the UN International Court Elena Zerkal.

"We are awaiting the court decision, and I hope it will be fair." According to our estimates, it may be presented before the end of April, "she said.

Commenting on the results of the suit consideration, Zerkal expressed the opinion that during the hearings the Russian side has demonstrated that "the logic of Russia is that they can do anything and bear no responsibility for their actions."

"Russia believes that we have an exclusively internal conflict, and that it can supply arms for the militants to the East. According to the statements of lawyers, Russia, as a state, is not responsible for the financing of terrorism, because if Russia knew that it would be held responsible for financing terrorism when it ratified the Convention, then RF would not have ratified it,” Head of the Ukrainian delegation explained claims of the Russian side.

Russia has the same position on its responsibility in the fight against racial discrimination in the Crimea.

“It turns out (from the position of the Russians) that the Tatars and Ukrainians in the Crimea live happily and do not suffer. Mejlis is an extremist organization, because they organized the blockade of the Crimea, when their rights were oppressed. This is their reality, and they accuse everybody for living in a different one," Zerkal said.

At the same time she is convicted that the whole world is on the position of Ukraine, and Russia should be responsible for its actions.

"The UN court is the only authority that can bring Russia to justice," the Head of the Ukrainian delegation stressed.

The International Court of Justice of the United Nations in the Hague began hearings on the application on preventive measures against Russia on March 6. The claim was filed January 16, 2017 in the International Court of Justice in order to hold Russia responsible for supporting terrorism in the East of Ukraine and discrimination against ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea.
