ISTANBUL (QHA) -
The Head of the permanent delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova was elected Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), the press service of the Verkhovna Rada reported.

Denisova noted:
“This choice of the twelve PABSEC member countries is a manifestation of international confidence in Ukraine and directly in me as the Head of the permanent delegation.”
The procedure for election and voting was held on July 5 during the plenary session of the 49th PABSEC General Assembly, which will last two days.

Lyudmila Denisova had earlier called on diplomats not to recognize the mandate of the RF State Duma deputy Pavel Shperov, who was elected from the annexed
Crimea, and, thus, to prevent the legitimization of the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula.

In protest against the presence of Shperov, the Ukrainian delegation left the meeting room.

According to the decision taken at the plenary session in Istanbul, the delegate from Russia Pavel Shperov did not receive the authority of the PABSEC member. At the insistence of the Ukrainian delegation, a meeting of the General Assembly was adjourned for his removal from the hall.

Today, on July 6, Ukraine takes over the chairmanship of the PABSEC for the next 6 months. The Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov elaborated on the matter on Facebook.

“Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy is given the floor. He is speaking about the incompatibility of the PABSEC goals and principles with Russia's aggressive policy towards its neighbors.”
Chubarov also noted that the Russian delegation did not attend the ceremony of handover of the chairmanship from Turkey to Ukraine.
