February 9, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, according to web-representation of the President of Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko and Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed the agenda for the meeting of the next High level Strategy Council between Ukraine and Turkey, which is scheduled to hold under the joint chairmanship of Heads of the two states in spring of this year.

Importance of speedy completion of the negotiation process to conclude an agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and Turkey was pointed out at the meeting as well.

Minister of Foreign Affairs assured that Turkey will remain constant in supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Crimea as well as in non-recognition of the Russian illegal annexation of Crimea.

Immediately before the meeting with President Poroshenko, Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke to President of Gagauz Union in Ukraine Vasil Keloglo and members of his delegation on situation of the people representatives in Ukraine.

Earlier, February 4, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko sent congratulation to President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Establishment between Ukraine and Turkey. Petro Poroshenko stressed that the currently established friendly relations are based on the political will of the Turkish leaders who strongly condemned occupation of Ukrainian territories in compliance with the principles of International Law. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his reply noted that collaboration between the countries is strengthening, despite challenges at all levels. He said Turkey will continue to strongly condemn aggression against Ukraine and support the country in its intention to restore territorial sovereignty and integrity.
