The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu during his visit to Ukraine, met with representatives of the Crimean Tatar people - Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and People's Deputy, the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, the Head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry informed on Facebook.

Mevlut Cavusoglu said that during the conversation, the situation of the Crimean Tatars in Turkey was addressed.

“Discussing the situation of the Crimean Tatars in Turkey with the leader of the Crimean Tatar people [Mustafa Dzhemilev - Ed.] and Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people [Refat Chubarov - Ed.], the Turkish Minister informed.

Cavusoglu also met with the Head of the World Association of Meskhetian Turks in Ukraine Marat Rasulov and delegation.

Earlier QHA reported that in the evening on February 9, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu. Minister of Foreign Affairs assured that Turkey will remain constant in supporting the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Crimea as well as in non-recognition of the Russian illegal annexation of Crimea.

Immediately before the meeting with President Poroshenko, Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke to President of Gagauz Union in Ukraine Vasil Keloglo and members of his delegation on situation of the people representatives in Ukraine. The visit also includes meetings with the Head of the Special OSCE Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.

Turkish Foreign Minister is currently on a two-day visit in Ukraine to mark the 25th Anniversary of the international relations establishment between the countries. Moreover, the arrival of the Head of the Turkish authorities is connected with the fifth meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group.

Negotiations are also held as a preparatory stage for the meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council between Ukraine and Turkey. Today, Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin will consider aspects of bilateral relations and discuss new opportunities for cooperation.
